If eligible, individuals will receive the lawyer referral list and instructions within three business days by email, or up to 10 business days by regular mail. The lawyer referral list provides biography and contact details for each lawyer. Individuals can choose which lawyer they want to contact. If an individual is not eligible, they will also receive a notification by email within three business days or by regular mail within 10 business days.

Service Description: Ministry of the Attorney General

  • Provides up to eight hours of free legal advice to those who qualify from one or more lawyers on referral list
  • Offers assistance at any time after the sexual assault has occurred
    • Note: The program does not provide legal representation

    Eligibility / Target Population: Survivors of sexual offences (such as assault, non-consensual distribution of intimate images or recordings, and other offences of a sexual nature) intimate partner violence or human trafficking, 16 years and older
